Gamify The Journey & Win The Day

To achieve big goals you want to transition from being outcome-oriented (you have 0 control) to committing to the daily activities that will inevitably get you to the goal.

Winners and losers have the same goals, what differentiates them is what they do and commit to on a daily basis.

With that in mind, I’m going to share with you a powerful formula to design your days and gamify the whole journey.

First and foremost, let’s do a little exercise to understand which activities actually move the needle and which ones are just noise.

I’m sure you’ve heard about the Pareto Principle - to identify the 20% of actions that bring 80% of the results…

Ok cool… but how the hell do I apply this?

I got you.

To identify the tasks that move the needle in your creator journey it’s crucial to first identify what is your main goal.

  • I want to build a business

  • I want followers

  • I want to help people

  • I want to land a job

Whatever it is, have that as your guide to identify the 20% of activities that will get you 80% of the results.

Let’s say you want to build a business on Twitter…

What are the top 3-5 tasks that would move the needle for you?

Well, a business is nothing more than solving other people’s problems in exchange for money.

So you need to have an avatar of who you want to help, a way to reach them, and a way to help them/deliver the results.

So if we broke that down into 3 main tasks, It would be something like this:

  • Sending DMs and connecting with the target audience to understand pain points

  • Creating content that shows expertise, builds authority, and generates leads (Tweets, threads, newsletters, giveaways)

  • Working on closing clients & fulfillment/improving the product/service

These 3 tasks are considered high-impact, they fall into the 20% category we talked about. By making progress in these 3 categories you will get closer to your goal of having a successful business.

Next, you structure your days to include these 3 tasks and 2 extra ones that are lower impact but also need to be done.

Here’s an example:

Monday

  • Send 15 DMs to connect (high impact)

  • Write a thread (high impact)

  • Start building the 1st iteration of the offer (high impact)

  • Engage for 30 minutes (lower impact)

  • Learning time (lower impact)

This is just an example, but as you can see you got 5 tasks that if completed daily would significantly move you closer to your goal.

Of course, tasks would slightly change from time to time but your key 3-5 needle-moving ones would always be there.

With this structure in mind, your sole focus is winning the day by executing all the tasks. These 5 things are the daily quests that will help you reach the end game of becoming a successful business owner.

If you do that, you won the day - you can now do whatever you want for the rest of the day knowing that you are moving forward and focusing on what matters.

This will also make sure you don’t overwork and burn out after a couple of weeks. This is sustainable and your growth will compound.

I adopted this strategy to design my days from Andy Frisella. He calls it the Power List and he has built a Billion $ brand so if it works for him it will probably work for you and me too :)

That’s it, my friend :)
