The Blueprint To Build A Creator Business On X
Hey there!
Long time no speak…
I want every email to be of immense value so I don’t spam you with nonsense.
Hope you appreciate that :)
Now let’s get into what matters.
Why Build A Creator Business?
This is what I asked myself when I first discovered money Twitter and people like Dan Koe, Kieran Drew, Justin Welsh, etc…
Why would I waste time building an audience to then build a business?
Why not build the business first?
Well…
The answer is very simple.
By building an audience you have digital leverage.
Your audience knows you, likes you, and trusts you.
If you offer enough value and solve their problems they will buy from you with 0 to no resistance.
But if you don’t have an audience you have to reach out to people that have no idea about who you are - which is much harder to sell.
You don’t have leverage.
Creating content and writing on X (rip Twitter) is your way to build digital leverage and do business in easy mode.
Building that audience at first won’t be easy but it’s an investment for the long-term.
You can absolutely get it done and today I will share with you the battle-tested blueprint that 100s of your favorite creators use and that I will be using to build my own creator business.
Buckle up…
I’m sharing EVERYTHING.
The Blueprint
I will divide this thread into 6 different sections:
1. Content
2. Growth
3. Monetization path
4. Offer
5. How to land 1st client
6. What's next
Let's get it started, shall we?
1. Content
The first big question everyone has:
WTF do I talk about?
Well… you can literally pick any topic.
What are you interested in?
If for any reason you can’t come up with a topic…
Commit to learning a skill and sharing everything you learn.
Let’s say you want to learn how to write properly.
Go learn everything you can about it.
Buy books (top 2).
Listen to podcasts, YT videos etc.
Consume Twitter threads on the topic.
The key is to consume a lot and make notes in a short time period (5 days).
Why?
Because you don’t want to get caught up in the learning wheel of procrastination.
You want to learn just enough to get your juices flowing and initial content ideas.
Your content will be a mix of your lessons and your personality (your X factor).
Be you and nobody can compete.
2. Growth
Now you have your topics.
How do you grow?
A lot of growth happens when you become a reply maniac.
Engage with everyone in your niche.
Big, medium, and small-sized accounts.
Do it all and be yourself - have fun.
Create a list of 50-100 people.
Carve out 20-30 minutes daily to engage with that list religiously.
You will grow.
I stopped doing it but I will start doing it again because I noticed the difference.
When it comes to your content it will be hard to grow at first.
But find 3 bigger accounts in your niche and model them.
Don’t copy.
Look at:
Their profile structure.
The structure of their tweets.
Topics that got a lot of engagement.
Their hook structures for threads/Long Tweets.
Use all the notes you gathered on your 5 days of learning to start writing your own tweets and threads.
Practice makes perfect.
Make sure to add your own personal stories and personality.
People crave authenticity and relatability.
”How I did X” or "How I'm doing X" will always beat “How to do X”.
3. Monetization Path
To keep it stupid simple, you have 3 paths to monetize:
DFY (done-for-you) - Typically a service where you do the work for the client.
DWY (done-with-you) - Typically a coaching offer where you teach the client what to do 1-1.
DIY (do-it-yourself) - Typically a digital product like a course or a cohort that is not 1-1.
To gain experience you start at the DFY or DWY offers.
With the goal of evolving into a DIY offer.
When you have a digital product you have true leverage and freedom.
You make it once and can sell it thousands of times without added effort.
That’s the ultimate goal... Now let’s take a look at how to craft an irresistible offer.
4. Offer
It’s important you understand who your customer is.
Who are you helping?
You need to understand their burning problems and desires.
Then you will position your content and offer to solve these problems or help them attain their biggest desires.
Speak to your audience and get these answers ASAP so you can start building your offer.
Now let’s see what are the 4 components of an irresistible offer:
Dream outcome - what’s the best possible outcome?
High likelihood of achievement - How likely are they to reach the dream outcome?
Low-time investment - How long does it take to reach the dream outcome?
Low effort & sacrifice - How much effort is needed to reach the dream outcome?
To create an irresistible offer you need to maximize the dream outcome and likelihood of achievement and minimize the time delay, effort, and sacrifice.
Offer A: I will help you build a creator business.
Offer B: I will help you build a $5k/mo creator business in 42 days without grinding 12 hours a day. And if in 42 days you don’t reach $5k/mo, you don’t pay.
Which one would you rather buy from?
Yeah… exactly.
5. How To Land Your 1st Client
This is exactly what I will be doing…
If you are starting from 0 you have no social proof or experience.
That’s fine - most don’t.
What you will do is get a few free clients so you can get testimonials and experience.
Aim to get 3 people from your audience you can help for free.
These testimonials will be worth gold and are the foundation of your business so do everything you can to overdeliver.
How do you get 3 people to say yes?
Well… this will be a numbers game.
You will get a lot of no’s and that’s fine. But here are a few strategies to get people to take you up on it:
Build a lead magnet: Solve a problem your audience has, don’t hold back on value, make it so good they will be begging for more. Then at the end say that you are taking 3 case studies for your irresistible offer because that’s all you can handle.
Build an email list: Below your content plug your newsletter where you can go more in-depth and build a long-lasting relationship with your audience. Then you can plug your offer at the end or throughout your content as you see fit.
Integrate it in your content: You can always let your audience know below your most popular tweets that you are taking 3 people for a free case study.
Cold DM: Last but not least, you can DM people who interact with your content or follow you. Make sure to help them first for free, look at their profile, and compliment them on something you see. Be genuine and have a normal conversation then say that you want to help 3 people for free and ask if they know anyone who would like that help (don't ask them directly, ask if they know anyone).
Overall the key here is to provide a lot of value for free in your content.
Don't hold back... give away all the secrets and they will pay for the implementation.
When you do this your audience will see you as an authority and will want to get help from YOU.
This is why creating content is so great, it builds leverage and eventually, people will be messaging you asking for help.
6. What’s Next
Now you have 3 people that have taken you up on the offer.
Your only goal is to over-deliver like crazy… this is your golden ticket to a thriving business.
Make sure you get a testimonial from each of them and ask for feedback.
The feedback is crucial because you will probably suck at first - that’s ok.
The 2 main reasons you are doing the 3 free case studies:
1. To get better
2. Get testimonials for social proof
Okay, now you have gained some experience and have 3 killer reviews.
What do you do next?
Well… now you do the exact same thing you did to get those 3 free case studies but instead of free you say 80% off.
”But Tom wtf, I want to start charging $2000/month rn”.
I know…
But if you do this right you will get to that point and beyond.
You are gaining experience right now and becoming skilled.
The time to earn is coming but you have to be patient.
Once you get around 3 people on the 80% off, you then do it again but this time 50% off…
And the next time you do it you can charge full price or go to 20% and then full price.
Up to you at that point.
You can do a discounted offer until you can't handle any more clients.
When you reach capacity and have created more demand than you can handle, that's when you can dictate the price.
If you did a great enough job your discounted clients will be ok paying full price.
If not, there's more fish in the sea.
And now you are skilled, have social proof, and have money coming in.
This is it…
All you need to get your creator business started and the exact plan I will be following.
Big shoutout to Alex Hormozi for his fantastic books, $100M Offers, and $100M Leads. I used some of his advice for this strategy because he has proven it works. (If you haven’t read them please do yourself a favor and read them).
If you have any questions feel free to DM me on X @tomwritesbiz or reply to this email, happy to help.
You can do this!
There are 0 downsides to this strategy… It has been done before many times and now you have the blueprint.
Wishing you the best and I hope this helped you gain some clarity.
See you in my next email and cheers to your freedom & success :)
