The Art of Creating Your Dream Reality
As you scroll through Twitter, there’s an abundance of strategies and “How To” guides on how to build your personal brand and creator business.
If lack of information is NOT the problem here… then, why do most people still fail?
Even though there’s an abundance of information, most people never do anything about it or can’t stick it out long enough to see results.
I know that because I was the exact same way.
Always looking for the best business model, the best strategy to do “x”… only to end up in the exact same place 6 months later.
The problem here is not the strategy, the lack of information, or anything external. It’s our identity, how we view the world, and our goals.
In this email, I will reveal the exact strategies that I have learned over 6 years that have helped me shift my identity and transform my life.
No single strategy will ever be more important than understanding yourself and mastering your own reality.
Once you get this down, any strategy can work. So please… pay close attention because this can truly change your life.
It changed mine.
What is Identity?
In my 6+ years of personal development and seeking the truth about what makes successful people stand out from the rest…
I’ve come to the same conclusion, again and again.
Everything comes down to their Identity and how they view themselves.
Your identity is the thoughts, concepts, and beliefs you hold to be true about yourself.
This is the single most important aspect of building your ideal reality.
How do you shift your identity
Understand what you want
Visualize it to help create a new self-image
Commit to the actions and behaviors of someone who has already achieved what you want
1. Understand what you want
Start with a vision of what your ideal life could be.
Make it as real as possible and be specific.
2. Visualization
Now that you have a target… visualizing it daily can help shape your new identity and subconscious mind.
Your subconscious cannot distinguish between what is real and what is imagined, so it will act on whatever thoughts and images you consistently hold in your mind.
Ok, Tom, I get that, but what do I visualize and how do I even do it?
With the above in mind, you want to visualize your goals already achieved and how good that feels.
The keyword here is “feels”… don’t just imagine, feel how it would feel to already have everything you want. Be thankful for it.
The process of visualizing is pretty simple:
Close your eyes
Imagine a scene in your life’s movie where you have everything you want (view it in the 1st person instead of 3rd person)
Feel how it feels to already be there - be thankful for it
This process can take anywhere from a couple of seconds to a few minutes, start small. Try to do it daily at the same time to create the habit.
I do it at night and sometimes during the day when I’m resting.
You can also go one step above and visualize the process. Whatever task you are doing right now, visualize yourself being successful at doing it, being confident and capable.
E.g: Go through your sales calls and writing sessions in your mind. See yourself being capable, confident, and getting it done successfully - and feel it.
3. Commit to the actions and behaviors
Commit to the actions and behaviors of someone that has already achieved that target.
E.g.: If you want to build a successful one-person business that does multi 6 figures.
What would you do?
Look up people that have a similar business
Reverse engineer their success by asking - how did they do it?
Find material that you can learn from (courses, podcasts, newsletters, etc.)
Model their actions & behaviors (making content, sales, learning skills...)
The key is to commit to the actions and behaviors of someone that ALREADY owns a successful business.
Why does this work so well?
Your identity will become attached to those tasks and you will start viewing yourself as a successful business owner.
With time those tasks and identity shift will result in the outcomes you desire.
WITHOUT forcing it - simply by becoming that person first.
Ok, Tom…
I get that we need to shift our identity.
But give me some actionable advice to make it easier.
I got you...
How to make it easy to implement this
Every time you are lost, ask yourself:
“What would a person that does this type of thing do?”
If your goal is to build a 6 figure one-person business you would ask:
“What would a 6-figure business owner do?”
OR
“What would [insert name of someone who has what you want] do?”
Ask this when you are confronted with:
A decision
A question
A problem
Now, you may be asking…
How do I know what they would do?
This is where your research of what you want and who already has it come in handy. You want to model their behaviors and day-to-day actions.
Most of it is actually very simple and there’s no need to overcomplicate. The goal isn’t to have a perfect answer or question.
The goal is to be able to answer it and make progress. You can keep developing the nature of the question as you go.
Why is this so helpful, you ask?
Well, instead of having all these goals, daily routines, and external things that you are trying to get. You simply commit to doing the types of things a successful business owner does…
Which reinforces your identity as one and gets you the desired outcome. No more chasing external things.
You do it because that’s WHO you are.
Winners and losers have the same goals. What truly separates them is the activities they commit to.
The loser is focused on the external outcomes he doesn’t have any control over while the winner is focused on the activities that will get him to the goal because that’s WHO he is.
Have you ever wondered why after you get some success you slow down? It’s because you accomplished the objective of doing an external thing (e.g: getting 500 followers).
When you are attached to the outcome it’s also easy to get discouraged if you don’t see results right away… you will start to get emotions involved and eventually stop doing the work.
This is exactly what happened to me countless times…
The solution is to turn your goal into DOING the activities and getting better at them - it will help you feel much better and ultimately get you to your goal faster.
